New Features Version 12
We are pleased to introduce some key new features and improvements incorporated in Accountant’s Drill Version 12. The efforts of the whole Accountant’s Tools team have come together to produce this new version, which is sure to increase your productivity and efficiency.
Web Update
[Template Analysis Edition mode, Info menu, Verify Updates]
It is possible to update the application as well as filters over the Web. The application update is performed in Template Analysis mode while filter updates can be through either the Template Analysis mode or work mode.
Creating an Installation or Work Session Disk
[Template Analysis Edition mode, Info menu, Burn CD-ROM of Work Session]

You can create your own installation or work session disks using the latest version of Accountant's Drill and its filters, directly from the software. The feature is available through the Analysis Template Edition mode. The procedure includes an update command so as to ensure you are using the latest version of the program. The result is then burnt on CD or transferred to a USB drive.
Working with Authorized Groups
[Input menu, Company, Company Information, Company tab]

A new analysis status is added, Secured Work in Progress. When the status of an analysis is Secured Work in Progress, no modification can be made to the group, no file can be added, no entry can be logged if only one line concerns an account or an index of the group.
Search Feature
[Input menu, Utilities, Search…]

Search results are easier to consult than ever before, as you can display each occurrence in its own input window and that the navigation between occurrences was vastly improved through specific commands added to the preview window. To take advantage of this new feature, click
in the Find result window or press the space bar. In the input window, the Search Results bar is added. To navigate from one element to the next, use the left-most set of arrows. When more than one occurrence is found in an element, a second set of arrows appear.

Advanced Search Feature
[Input menu, Utilities, Advanced Search]

Parentheses are available in advanced search. A maximum of three nested parentheses are allowed. The implementation of this feature incurs a modification in the priority of the selection operations. Parentheses are assessed first, from the inside out, from left to right. Results are then inserted into the formula.
For example, given the formula (((a/(b+(c-d))), c-d is assessed first. The result is then added to b. The new result is inserted into the formula and the latter is then assessed.
Gestionnaire/SMART Office Filter
A new filter type is implemented in Accountant's Drill. It allows the user to analyze data from Micro-Accès daycare management solutions SMART Office and Gestionnaire. This filter is only available by subscription. For more information, contact Fortsum Business Solutions customer support at 1 800 862-5922 option 2.
Work Program Upgrade
The French version of the work programs for notices to readers and reviews were thouroughly revised.
Floating Transactions
[Input menu, General Ledger, Floating Transactions]

The concept of floating transactions is integrated to Accountant's Drill for adjustment and reclassification entries. A floating transaction has no accounting effect in reports. The status is assigned to each transaction individually or collectively through the Floating Transaction Management window. The floating status is retained during the end-of-year procedure.
Tax Report Exclusions
[Report menu, General Ledger, Tax Report]

When producing a tax report in Verification mode, it is possible to exclude from consideration transactions with descriptions containing a specified string. The transactions meeting the exclusion parameter are displayed at the bottom of the report, in a separate section.
Aged Trial Balance
[Report menu, Sub-ledgers, Accounts Payable Reports/Accounts Receivable Reports]
The maximum number of accounting cycles that can be activated when producing an aged trial balance is increased to 6.
List of Notes and Comments
[Report menu, Company, List of Notes and Comments]

A new report is implemented in Accountant's Drill that rapidly displays notes and comments left throughout the file. From the report, it is possible to drill down into the selected element.
Graphs
[Report menu, Company, Graphs]

New graph types are available in Accountant’s Drill as well as new display options.
Two new types of graphs are added in Accountant's Drill. You can now produce a graph relative to aged trial balances and income statements.
A new toolbar is added to the graph setup window. Its features will help you rotate a graph, move it, change its size or its depth. You can also invert switch caption and time range.
Note that if the modifications made to a graph are saved in report preferences, they’ll be used in the Highlight report as well.
Integrity of an Analysis File
[display the current file, Operation menu, Verify the Coherence of the Current File]

When updating work programs, you’ll encounter forms that change name, are merged, or are simply removed. A new report validates whether these modifications affect existing references from index groups, indices or accounts to forms or templates. While this feature is mostly useful when updating the work programs, it remains accessible when the current file is displayed.
Access to Complete Client Data: A Necessity
Given the difficulty of obtaining client data, until now, you settled for analyzing trial balances, consulting list of transactions and performing other long and tedious operations that slowed down the completion of your engagements.
This white paper discusses how access to complete client data is now necessary to improving the efficiency with which you perform your engagements. It allows you to see how existing technology can help you save time in each of the engagement process, from data collection to document production. Using these techniques, you can perform data analysis tasks that were next to impossible to do manually. The document also outlines the ideal system for collecting your clients' accounting, accounts receivable and accounts payable data.
